Hello parents and guardians. My name is Mr. Hopwood and I will be your child's teacher for this school year.
I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I'm not originally from Maine. I grew up as a farm boy in Pennsylvania and went to the University of New Hampshire. After graduating I worked at Traip Academy as an Ed Tech in their Special Ed department for 8 years. After my time at Traip I went back to the University of Southern Maine's ETEP program to become a teacher. I actually had the pleasure of interning here at WES with Mrs. Longley.
I am married to my wife Casey of 8 years. We have two children, my daughter Charlee, who is 6 and is in Kindergarten at Eliot Elementary School, and my son Brady, who is 4 and goes to Eliot Elementary School's Pre-K program. My kids take up most of my free time outside of school. We love going to the beach and playing outside. My greatest interest, as I'm sure your children have told you is driving race cars. I started racing as a kid and worked my way up the ranks and drove professionally for 7 years. This coincided with my time at Traip. Once the racing dream ended, the new dream of being a teacher started and it is now a reality.
I look forward to this school year with your child.
